What is Microsoft SharePoint?

It is a key piece of the Information Worker Infrastructure delivered in Windows Server 2003 and provides additional team services and sites to Microsoft Office and other desktop applications, as well as serving as a platform for application development.

Dv TDM provides advanced document management features necessary for handling complex documents. Such documents may include engineering cad files with x-Refs or documents which undergo multiple revisions between users in multiple physical locations. The portal will provide a place for messaging and calendaring where team members can collaborate and keep up to date on project related information and important deadlines. Full Integration: Companies who already use SharePoint or want to take full advantage of the enterprise solution can tightly integrate the two packages. Transmittals and Distribution: Dv TDM users can currently management the distribution of transmittals to their outside vendors/clients/contractors via the transmittal engine. SharePoint provides the ability to also post those documents in a client/transmittal specific website outside of the company firewall where the team members can track the progress of those files and collaborate with the customer. The transmittal site provides for easy communication and notification of important actions including new messages, changed documents, etc. The project team can easily monitor the documents for activity, respond to questions, and know exactly when the documents need to be removed or updated in Dv TDM.
